Feeding Creativity, Fighting Hunger.
Join us on March 5, 2026, as teams transform thousands of cans into monumental sculptures at Centre Village Mall. Every structure is built entirely from canned food and donated afterward to local food banks across Southern Alberta.
WHAT IS CANSTRUCTION?
Canstruction is a global design-build competition founded over 20 years ago by the Society for Design Administration, an affiliate of the American Institute of Architects. Today, Canstruction events take place in more than 100 cities across North America, raising millions of pounds of food for communities in need.
CANSTRUCTION LETHBRIDGE HISTORY
Canstruction Lethbridge has been building community impact since 2011. Over the years, local schools, engineering firms, businesses, and student teams have participated in the competition; combining creativity, teamwork, and purpose to fight hunger in our region.
HOW IT WORKS
Teams of architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and students collaborate to design and construct large-scale sculptures made entirely from unopened cans of food. The structures are displayed publicly for viewing and voting. At the conclusion of the exhibition, every can is donated to local food banks.
